I know that developing for multiple consoles is costly and there are exceptions to every rule (rocket league) but it's hard to make it in this market light-a-Lewis-Arnott/aff9798c178ebb40e8a3a6514cb5f76406287c07. With so many games, and those with huge marketing budgets you really have to play your cards right to make an impact IMO and waiting months and months when the zeitgeist has moved on can make things difficult.

One thing I've noticed is that even for a highly anticipated Indie game a staggered release hurts momentum usually, small sample size but I remember steam world heist which is an excellent game had some decent hype after dig but with the staggered release lots of people didn't even know it launched on ps4, or look at oxen free another game got some press around release on Xbox didn't have that great sales came to ps4 and was gone like a fart in the wind, lastly stealth inc very highly touted (to me at least I loved mark of the ninja) another early access staggered release plus the tiny text on ps4 made it difficult to play, again you could have missed the fact it was even released. I'm glad that the performance is good on ps4, although it it's cheaper on Xbox I might get it on taht all things being equal. One second, they're simply walking through one of the game's areas, and suddenly they're walking at a slow pace, leaving blood puddles behind while the screen is covered in glitches.Click to expand.Wait I am? and deep in the chasm below is its owner the fourth and final Titan, in the process of being repaired. As you traverse the depths, you stumble across a massive, beating heart a dozen times larger than you are. And the forces responsible for that atrocity aren't even finished. The most densely populated area on the planet was so thoroughly annihilated that nothing above the ground survived. Then you learn that this was the region where all four Titans began their rampage. Yet the hidden monoliths claim that this was once the most advanced, populated, and vibrant region throughout the world note The impressive subterranean facilities are indeed a stark contrast to the wasteland above, even after years of neglect. The southern area may seem tame compared to the others, being a large open desert with barely any threats or landmarks across the surface and almost everything of note being below the ground.Crude, stained altars choke the nooks and crannies, bodies are nailed to walls in deliberate and symbolic ways, and according to the one non-hostile native you encounter, they burned their own eggs in ritual sacrifice before you arrived. Hyper Light Drifter manages to condense solid gameplay and fast paced combat into a neat 8 10-hour package (add a couple more if your fussed about finding all the hidden outfits and extras), delivering a solid, streamlined and enjoyable action-RPG experience, definitely one that shouldn’t be missed. While the northern area is beautiful and majestic, the further you range into the avians' territory the more apparent their psychopathy becomes. And every last one of them is the same species as the drifter. There is another dose of Fridge Horror on the frozen battlefield it evidently took place during the same catastrophe where the Titans wrecked the world, and one faction was apparently aiding the apocalyptic, world-ending monstrosity.Closer inspection reveals that some victims were encased even while fleeing in terror, indicating just how blindingly fast the initial spread must have been, and how lucky you were not to have been there at the time. As you head further in, you begin finding the bodies of those who suffered a similar fate with growing frequency, culminating in an entire battlefield frozen in time where every combatant was encased in solid crystals as they fought and died. The Western area is a dense neon forest covered in strange crystal growths, that quickly grow back if you hack them apart, sometimes rapidly enough to entirely encase the Drifter. And then the boss's intro is biting an otter in half. Bodies litter the water in some parts, and the area outside the boss room even has freshly skinned bodies on display. The three only survivors are all horribly injured, with the only conscious one explaining how he escaped just as the frogs started to flay the otters. First we see them throwing a fresh corpse on a pile, right next to several of their pelts that have been strung up.

Then you find the native otter people have been completely slaughtered by invading frogs. At first glance it's a beautiful city on the water, and easily the most brightly lit local in the game.
